THE DRAGONFLY / novel
/ Literary Science Fiction
/ 75,000 words
/ Status: Final Draft. Sample available.
For fifteen years since a catastrophic solar storm ended modern civilisation, a small group of survivors have hidden in an abandoned summer camp deep in the Rokkan Forest.
Nephele has only known isolation.
She has only heard stories of how the world used to be.
And she only hears rumours about what it has become.
Is it a coincidence that when she learns about her grandmother's involvement in a secret resistance, that her dreams take on a haunting new dimension?
Did the strange, violet streak across the sky have something to do with the dangerous 6/26ers who rule the cities - or could its origins be otherworldly?
As Nephele is pulled further into her grandmother's chaos, she learns that dreaming of escaping is not the same as doing it, and the pricetag of leaving everything you've ever known in order to save yourself, is as high as it gets.

*The Dragonfly has been adapted for screen; a pilot episode has received positive feedback and interest from industry professionals (production companies, producers). However, I do not want to pursue this until the book is published.
